Bei uns im Mittelpunkt: Du. Dein Spiel, deine Entscheidung. Du solltest die Dinge die du kaufst auch wirklich besitzen. Dein Profil. Also of note is the detail and clarity of the game's sound effects. There's a convincing clunk as you run up and down stairs, and from sound alone you should be able to tell if you're on a stone office floor or the steel of a bridge or walkway.

Aside from the pre-designed video cut-scenes, which showcase documents, photographs, and hand-drawn art, all of the in-game cut-scenes are rendering in real-time with the power of the PS2.

If you're wearing body armor just before you start a new part of the plot, you'll see your character wearing it in the cut-scene as well. I feel that this effect really adds to the suspension of disbelief in MGS2 and helps it be that much more impressive.

I'm not basing this conclusion on any material from the developers, or specific notes about MGS2 , rather on simple deduction and observation. I could be wrong, but even if I were, that still means the developers work was convincing enough to make me think otherwise.

Although the gameplay is similar to the original Metal Gear Solid , that isn't a bad thing, just lacking in innovation. Small details and extra touches make this game rock, especially given that you can experience both rain splatter and the movement of the New York City skyline in the distance. Using a tried and true design scheme really paid off, and the strong use of cut-scenes and narrative make this an excellent title for its single player experience. Ever since the unveiling of MGS2 at E3 this year, gamers have been begging Konami for a new look at the game.

The new MGS2 trailer opens with a hooded man, cigarette in mouth, walking across a suspended bridge at night. Cars race by, illuminating the man's face-it's Snake. All of the sudden he rips off his jacket, breaks into a run and disappears in the same semi-transparent way the stealth camouflage suits worked in the last game.

Then he jumps off of the bridge in dramatic John Woo slow-motion style and tumbles toward the water. But you quickly see that it's not the water he's headed for, it's a large ship. And he's not freefalling, he's attached to a bungie cord.

The whole sequence is very reminiscent of the stylings of the Japanese anime Ghost in the Shell. The new trailer continued to show more of Snake on the ship. Enjoy these new shots, and look for updates on every piece of new info we can scrape together on this game in the coming months.

Yes, we've already dedicated more than five pages to Metal Gear Solid 2 over the last few issues since the game was first revealed at the E3, but then you're not complaining are you?

In fact, we would have shown you even more if we could have, but we were limited to shots given to us from Konami. Why all the hype on this game that's still over a year away? If you played the first Metal Gear Solid, chances are you don't need to ask. But even if you hated that game, seeing the roughly 10 minutes of footage of the sequel trailer will at least get you excited about the capabilities of the PlayStation 2.

Sure some other PS2 titles look good, but this game-the environments, the characters, effects, everything--is head and shoulders above anything else we've seen for the system. This is abandonware again. What kind of an idea was to remove the file from a PC game so people buy the PS3 version?!

SumOldgai 6 points. The game is not available on GoG. Not sure where you got that information from. Search produces no results. Alexandre Cleyton 1 point. Kotdrifter 1 point. MGS2 help 1 point. This port is known to be problematic and can require a few fixes to get it running good.

S 0 point. If you're having problems starting mgs2 up try using this. Yet, despite all these problems, the sheer quality of the underlying game manages to shine through. For the three people who just emerged from the cave they've been living in, the Metal Gear series is the story of secret agent Solid Snake, who is now a member of a group dedicated to stopping the construction of "Metal Gears" -- giant fighting robots that can also be used as nuclear weapons.

There's much more to it, of course. One of Metal Gear's greatest strengths has always been its rather bizarre and convoluted storylines, and in this, Substance certainly satisfies. The game is filled with long, incredibly well-produced cut-scenes that are almost as much fun to watch as the game is to play. The style and presentation of both story and cut-scenes are obviously influenced by the Japanese anime tradition, with plenty of slow-motion and unusual camera angles.

This may actually take some getting used for some PC gamers who aren't anime fans. PC cut-scenes are usually more influenced by Western cinema, but it's not really a drawback and the scenes are so well done that it won't slow most gamers down for more than a few seconds. I've ranted before on the common mistakes that developers make when porting a console title to the PC.

Substance gets a double smackdown because the game is actually a port of a port. The PC version of Substance is actually based on the Xbox version of Substance, and as I feared, it has every one of its flaws.
