If you had read my post comprehensively, than you would have understood that I was not looking for a workaround, rather than an acknowledgement and revert or fix from Skype, that would allow us to continue to use the existing versions and with the existing iOS we have. They are functional apps, that are blocked by Skype, so you have to upgrade to the new version, which by the way if you research, is not wanted by the majority of Skype users.
I feel your pain Allen[S], I feel a sense of disgust when being faced with a poor black and white option of upgrading at my expense. I am not receving humane answers from technical support just the polite robotic one. And no reassurance whether that is gonna be available in the near future.
What joy and ease of mobile use! It makes me wonder whether I wish to use Skype with such a poor quality of autonomy and ease of use which seems inhumane despite any touted advances in other areas. I dont need those. Hope you find a satisfying option Allen[S] or a new service which is gonna far more understanding of diverse needs and autonomy of choice within those. I am bit confused at the one-sided perspective. If Apple continued to support the iPhone 4 and kept upgrading its iOS, you would be able to continue to use Skype.
If anyone is limiting that phone, it is primarily Apple - 4 year product life cycle. It would seem Microsoft is simply not continuing to spend resources to maintain backwards compatibility with that OS level. I can only assume they are prepared to suffer the consequences, due to this.
